Over 170 mostly barefoot inmates escape from Haiti Prison

Over 170 inmates have escaped from a jail in Haiti after a mass prison break which left one guard dead.
Haitian authorities have launched an urgent manhunt for the fugitives who overpowered guards at the Arcahaie jail, 30 miles north of the capital Port-au-Prince.
The inmates attacked as they were released from their cells to bathe, according to local authorities.
They stole an unknown number of weapons and exchanged gunfire with police during the chaotic breakout.
One guard was killed in the shootout and several others were injured, according to Haiti’s justice minister Camille Edouard Junior.
A prisoner also died after falling off a wall and hitting his head during the panicked escape.
